PECORINO, Aries 2020, Colline Pescaresi Abruzzo, Italy From young female winemaker Chiara Ciavoli. The grapes for this incredible Pecorino come from a pergola Abruzzese planted in 2000 from one hectare of vineyard. An aromatic wine full of summer meadow flowers, melon, straw, apricot, lemon, apple, rosewater and sweet exotic spices. It's delightfully complex in the mouth too, and light on its feet thanks to the lifted lemon notes and good acidity. Green apple and citrus flavours are joined by cantaloupe and honeydew.

CHENIN BLANC, Fides 2016, Savennieres, Loire Valley, France (+$15) Savennières is a small appellation, with less than 200 hectares under vine and about 30 commercial wine producers. Morgat, who grew up in a winemaking family across the Loire in the Côteaux du Layon region, first started making Savennières in 1995. This is a wine that leaves no one indifferent. What a nose! There is something very regal in the intersection of an almost chalky, tidepool minerality, some fleeting wild herbal nuances, the pristine purity of fruit.

GAMAY, FLeurie L’Alchimiste 2020, Beaujolais, France Anne-Sophie Dubois is part of a new generation of rising star vignerons in Beaujolais. Based in the heart of Fleurie, Anne-Sophies' wines epitomize delicacy and finesse, with a style and approach aligned with the Gamay grown in the area. The Champagne native is shaking up Beaujolais’ viticultural scene like no other. L'Alchimiste is named after the Paulo Coelho novel, a book about pursuing ones dreams and learning life lessons along the way. 100% destemmed, L'Alchimiste is a selection of vines over forty years of age. It is aged for around 15 months in a combination of cement and a range of different sized neutral oak barrels. Anne-Sophie bottles her wines unfined and unfiltered.

PINOT NOIR, Bourgogne, Côte D’Or 2018, France Domaine Michel Magnien has evolved into a Burgundy producer of a singular style and philosophy from cellars located in the village of Morey-Saint-Denis. This wine is a blend of different plots of Côtes de Nuits. Bourgogne Rouge shows bright and fresh red-fruit character with notes of earth and spice. 50-year-old vines contribute weight and richness to this otherwise fresh-tasting Burgundy unadorned with the taste of new oak. It’s a pure expression of red Burgundy from biodynamically farmed grapes.”

Albino Rocca, Moscato D’asti
MOSCATO BIANCO, Moscato D’Asti 2021, Piedmont, Italy Albino Rocca is a wine producer based in Piedmont, in the northwest of Italy. The Moscato grapes are planted in one of pure “Sorì” (southern facing) slopes in San Rocco Seno d’Elvio (Alba). A rough steep terrain, with a marked southern exposure where the work must be done by hand and the production is very small. The result is a sweet, aromatic, slightly fizzy wine with great fullness and satisfaction.

UGNI BLANC, Vidal Ice 2017, Ontario, Canada (+5) Inniskillin is a Canadian winery located in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario. Inniskillin, which is mainly noted for its icewine production, has played an important pioneering role in the modern Canadian wine industry. Harvested at the pinnacle of Canada’s crisp winter, the grapes are left on the vine and harvested when the temperature drops to - 10 ˚C. This wine is a beautiful blend of Tropical fruits, mango and lychee combine with vanilla pod, toasted brioche and an underlying floral element.
